The Netherlands
Tucked between city and sea, The Hague has no shortage of striking architecture. But few buildings have the quiet presence of the Toren van Oud. If you have ever wandered through the Statenkwartier or looked up from the Scheveningseweg, chances are this tower caught your eye. And starting September 2025, you will not just have to admire it from a distance you can stay in it.
Originally built in the 1960s as an office building, the Toren van Oud is one of those rare places that somehow feels both nostalgic and ahead of its time. The clean lines, large windows, and subtle curves give it a modernist charm that still holds up. Now, decades later, the tower is being transformed into high-quality serviced apartments for short and extended stays and BizStay is proud to manage them.
This building has always had potential. It is right next to the World Forum and just a few minutes from both the city centre and the Scheveningen coastline. With the new design, we are not just preserving the character we are giving it new purpose. Whether you are in The Hague for work, relocation, or a temporary break, this is a place where architecture meets comfort.
Some units will offer panoramic views of the city, others will look out over the leafy avenues of the Statenkwartier and even further, towards Rotterdam and the sea.
Each apartment in the Toren van Oud will have its own unique layout, shaped by the original structure. Expect clever use of space, high ceilings, and natural light flooding in from wide windows. Some units will offer panoramic views of the city, others will look out over the leafy avenues of the Statenkwartier and even further, towards Rotterdam and the sea.
The building includes 38 one-bedroom apartments in total, divided into four types based on the view. Whether you prefer a skyline, coast, or leafy neighbourhood there is an apartment for it.
The interiors will balance functionality with simplicity. Think neutral tones, clean materials, and design that does not shout but quietly impresses. These are places to live in, not just crash.
We know not every guest needs multiple bedrooms. That is why Toren van Oud focuses entirely on one-bedroom apartments smart, comfortable, and designed for one or two people. Each type differs based on the view: city, green surroundings, the sea, or the wide horizon stretching toward Rotterdam.
Part of the renovation includes energy-efficient upgrades. The building will be better insulated, use sustainable heating and cooling systems, and aim for a strong energy label. Good for the environment, and for your peace of mind.
This part of The Hague is home to many international organisations and companies. The International Criminal Court (ICC), Europol, OPCW, various embassies, and NGOs are all within walking or biking distance. For professionals working with or visiting these institutions, the Toren van Oud offers a convenient and comfortable base.
The location is one of its strongest assets. From the front door, you can walk to international organisations, cycle to the beach, or take tram 1 or bus 24 into town. Want to grab lunch on Frederik Hendriklaan or pick up groceries at the local market? It is all within reach.
For many locals, the Toren van Oud is a building they have known for years. For new guests, it will be a welcome surprise. Either way, it is entering a new phase one that combines its architectural roots with the comfort and flexibility of modern short-stay living
