City by the sea: living the coastal vibe in Scheveningen at BizStay Harbour

Some people like to be in the middle of the city. Others prefer to hear the waves when they open the window. And then there are those who want both. That is where Scheveningen comes in. A little bit beach, a little bit city and at BizStay Harbour, you are right in between.

Harbour life, but make it easy

Our apartments at the harbour are not just about location, though, let’s be honest, it is a pretty good one. You are a five-minute walk from the beach (Zuiderstrand), the marina is just outside your window and if you are lucky, you will spot seals sunbathing in the so called Kom. The vibe here is laid-back but alive. Think fishing boats, seafood restaurants, surfers carrying boards under their arms and sunset strolls without needing to check your watch.

Why guests choose this area

Some of our guests come for work and end up staying longer than planned. Others are in between homes, or on a family break that is not quite a holiday but does not feel like real life either. The mix of city convenience and sea breeze is what keeps people here. You can be in the centre of The Hague in 15 minutes, but still fall asleep to the sound of gulls.

There is even a direct bus – line 28 – that takes you from the harbour straight into the city centre and back. It is fast, reliable and a favourite among our long-stay guests who do not want to rely on a car every day.

Things to do (besides the beach)

Yes, there is the beach and it is a good one. But there is more. Start the day with coffee at one of the harbour cafés, walk or bike into the dunes, or visit the museum by the sea (literally – it is called Beelden aan Zee). Fancy something low-key? Grab some kibbeling (the ones from Simonis are the best) or oysters, sit on a bench by the water and just watch the world go by.

We often send guests to the less touristy spots: the Zuiderstrand just 600 meters away, the quieter part of the beach near Zwarte Pad, the local bakery in Statenkwartier or a walk to Westduinpark. You won’t find souvenir shops there, just nature, neighbourhoods, and space to breathe.

And if you are in the mood for a bit of local shopping, head to ‘de Fred’, the Frederik Hendriklaan – a lovely shopping street within walking distance. You will find everything from boutiques and bookstores to bakeries and good coffee.

Looking to stretch your legs? Try a walk along the shoreline and head back through the dunes. It’s peaceful, refreshing, and just around the corner.

A place to stay that feels like your own

The BizStay Harbour apartments are designed for living, not just sleeping. All of them come fully furnished, with kitchens, laundry and private entrances. Some have balconies looking out over the sea others do have harbour view and there are a few who have both! If you are working remotely, there’s enough space to actually work. And if you are not, even better.

This location is also perfectly suited for extended stays. Whether you are in town for a few weeks or a few months, it is easy to settle in. The combination of space, comfort, and flexibility makes it a solid choice for anyone looking to stay a bit longer without the hassle of renting.

Your own parking spot – in Scheveningen

Here is something you do not hear every day: free parking in Scheveningen. Each apartment comes with its own private parking space. No expensive day tickets. Just park, unload your things, and you are home.

Check-in with a personal touch

We believe in personal contact. That is why we always aim for a warm meet & greet when you check in. It is a chance to welcome you properly, answer your questions, and share a few local tips. Many of our team members live in The Hague or Scheveningen themselves, so they know where to send you for the best coffee, a quiet beach walk or that one place with the good food.

Who it’s for

We see solo travellers with laptops, couples escaping their home renovations and families who need a break from hotel corridors. Pets are welcome in some units, and yes, there’s parking. Long or short, the apartments adjust to your rhythm.

The little extras

GuestKey helps you get in, get settled and find what you need. WiFi is strong, kitchens are stocked with the essentials, and if something’s not working – we will fix it. Quietly.

Want to try the coastal pace?

If you are curious about staying by the harbour, we would be happy to help you pick the right apartment. Just reach out, no pressure. Whether you stay for a few days or a few months, Scheveningen has a way of making people slow down. In the best possible way.
